$61 Adoption Fee to Be Paid For By PRAI Beauty Weekend of May 4

CLEVELAND —As part of the national “Free the Shelters” event, adoption fees will be waived at the City of Cleveland kennel from May 4-6.

Adoption fees - typically $61 - will be paid for by PRAI Beauty, which is also funding adoptions at nine other shelters around the country. Currently, there are 94 CITY DOGS awaiting loving homes with Cleveland Animal Care & Control. Standard adoption procedures will apply during the event.

“We are grateful to PRAI Beauty for selecting CITY DOGS to participate in this important pet adoption event,” said Michelle Harvanek, Shelter Operations Manager at the city kennel. “We have many dogs waiting for a forever home. There’s a wonderful array of CITY DOGS to match the lifestyles and personalities of individuals and families looking to adopt.”

Adoptable CITY DOGS can be viewed at www.petango.com/cacc or at the kennel, located at 2690 West 7th St. Hours for the May 4-6 weekend promotion are Monday-Saturday 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walk-in adoptions are accepted, but appointments are recommended, especially if you have a resident dog to bring to the meet and greet or you are interested in meeting a dog in a foster home. Make an appointment to meet with an Adoption Counselor by emailing citydogs@city.cleveland.oh.us or calling the adoption hotline at 216-664-3476.

“We are delighted to work with Cleveland Animal Care & Control for our mega ‘Free the Shelters’ adoption event,” said Cathy Kangas, CEO and Founder of PRAI Beauty. “This shelter is dedicated to helping animals find a home and we don’t want adoption fees to stand in the way. Our love for animals runs deep at PRAI Beauty and the „Free the Shelters‟ campaign is one of the ways we bring that passion to life.”

About CITY DOGS Cleveland

CITY DOGS is a program of Cleveland Animal Care and Control. The CITY DOGS mission is to increase adoptions from the City Kennel by changing the image of the pit bull-type dogs who make up the majority of the kennel population, by preparing all adoptable dogs in the kennel for lives in loving homes and by creating as many opportunities as possible for the public to meet and get to know our dogs for the terrific pets they are meant to be.
