Wednesday, February 17, 2022 – Cleveland, OH – The City of Cleveland is preparing for the excitement that will be upon downtown Cleveland from the 2022 National Basketball Association All-Star Weekend events. The events begin on Friday, February 18, 2022 with the Ruffles NBA All-Star Celebrity Game and include the State Farm All-Star Saturday Night, culminating with the All-Star Game on Sunday, February 20, 2022. Safety is the number one priority of the City of Cleveland. The City of Cleveland, Department of Public Safety, and Division of Police has a security plan in place for NBA All-Star events as in the case of all special events. The Division of Police will have officers detailed to downtown events to ensure the safety of residents, visitors to the City of Cleveland and event attendees. Numerous officers will be detailed to the area during the event for added security. In addition, the Division of Police will maintain full staffing within all Cleveland neighborhoods outside of downtown. Security and transportation plans have been developed through a partnership of local, state and federal law enforcement and public safety agencies. Every effort has been made to minimize the impact of these safety measures on the public.
Tips for an enjoyable experience:
Arrive early. In order to ensure that you arrive at your destination without missing any of the action, plan your commute beforehand and allow yourself extra travel time. Remember that parking lots and garages may become full with the influx of event attendees and people coming downtown to enjoy dining and entertainment establishments, so be sure to explore options in terms of parking. Put your junk in your trunk! Valuable items should not be left in the interior of your vehicle where others can see them. Placing valuables in your trunk and out of sight limit thefts from vehicles.
Be aware of increased pedestrian traffic in the downtown area.
