Tuesday, March 15, 2022 – Cleveland, OH – The Cleveland Department of Public Health (CDPH) today announced plans to distribute hand sanitizer, masks and test kits to grassroots, faith-based and other community-based organizations on Cleveland’s inaugural Day of Remembrance and Resilience.
Purell maker Gojo donated 43,000 bottles of hand sanitizer to the City of Cleveland and as part of last month’s All-Star Game activities, the NBA donated 50,000 KN95 masks and 10,000 test kits.
“On this Day of Remembrance and Resilience, we pause to honor the lives lost to COVID-19. The City of Cleveland stands ready to provide grassroots and community organizations with the resources they need to ensure our communities are protected with a distribution plan in place and reserves on hold in the event of a surge,” Mayor Justin M. Bibb said.
There are currently 30 agencies across the city that provide COVID-19 outreach, food distribution and other social services. These agencies will each receive 150 test kits and 150 bottles of hand sanitizer for community distribution. Test kits, masks and sanitizer will also be provided to the Department of Aging for distribution to Cleveland seniors and to local daycare centers, beginning with those that have had outbreaks in recent months.
CDPH Interim Director Brian Kimball says the donations will provide further support to our residents, businesses and agencies in the City of Cleveland.
