Capital Projects Resources

The City of Cleveland operates and maintains 151 city parks, 21 recreation centers including 14 that have an onsite park, 1 fine art center, 1 residential camp, and 1 golf course. In order to provide the best experience possible to all Clevelanders, the City continually invests in these assets on an annual basis. Below are the major capital projects currently in construction, awaiting construction, being planned, or recently completed.

ARPA funded playground projects are in various stages of construction throughout each Ward.

Clark Recreation Center (5706 Clark Ave.) is receiving a full renovation and minor addition.

Anticipated completion: Summer 2024

Forest City Park (3510 Kimmel Rd.) is receiving a full renovation that will result in:

  • New playground
  • New lawn area
  • New shelter
  • New picnic and gaming tables
  • New grills

Anticipated completion date: Spring 2024

Glendale Park (3813 E. 149th St.) is receiving a full renovation that will result in:

  • New basketball court
  • New exercise equipment
  • New game tables
  • New multiuse field
  • New playground
  • New splash pad

Anticipated completion: Winter 2024/Spring 2025

Lake Pool Park (1341 W. 85th St.) is receiving a full renovation that will result in:

  • New exercise equipment
  • New playground
  • New shelter
  • New splash pad

Mohican Park (13401 Triskett Rd.) is receiving a playground renovation.

Anticipated completion: Summer 2024

Sterling Recreation Center (1380 E. 32nd St.) is receiving a full renovation and minor addition.

Upcoming Construction

Calgary Park (2201 Calgary Ave.) will receive a full renovation.

Anticipated start: Summer/Fall 2024

Central Recreation Center (2526 Central Ave.) will receive an addition and full park renovation.

Anticipated start: Summer/Fall 2024

Neff Park (961 E. 193rd St.) will receive a full renovation.

Anticipated start: Summer/Fall 2024

Rockefeller Park, in the area known as Sowinski (west of the Doan Brook near the intersection of Martin Luther King Jr Dr. & St. Casimir Way), will receive improvements that result in:

  • New 1,200-foot paved multiuse trail along the recently completed restoration of the Doan Brook
  • New educational plaza
  • New parking lot

Anticipated start: Summer/Fall 2024

The U.S. Soccer Foundation, through its Safe Places to Play program, has donated two "mini-pitch soccer fields" that will be installed on the former tennis court in Lonnie Burten Park and a repurposed basketball court in Halloran Park.
