Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2022 — Cleveland — The City of Cleveland has issued an RFP seeking proposals for a site for Cleveland's new police headquarters.
The City of Cleveland’s Department of Public Safety intends to relocate its existing police headquarters operations—currently located at 1300 Ontario Street at the Justice Center—to a new, permanent location for headquarters operations including separate storage space, garage and office facility for use by Cleveland Division of Police.
“The purpose of this RFP is to ensure we find the best price, timing, location, and quality for the Cleveland Division of Police headquarters,” said Cleveland’s Chief of Integrated Development Jeff Epstein. “We are doing our due diligence in order to make sure we have the best options on the table to meet the needs of our police department.”
Requirements include approximately 250,000 contiguous square feet, laid out appropriately for office staff and law enforcement needs, including private offices, public spaces, cubical workspaces, interview rooms, classrooms, exercise room, conference rooms and locker rooms.
The space must be in the City of Cleveland, within a 2.5-mile radius of Cleveland City Hall and close to freeway access with space for secure parking for 450 passenger cars. The Cleveland Division of Police must be the sole occupant of the facility.
The City has not ruled out the Opportunity Corridor at East 75th street location, first proposed in 2019, but began looking at alternatives earlier this year due to the changing economy, real estate market, the rising cost of building materials, labor, and supply chain considerations.
The deadline for proposals is Monday, Nov. 14 at noon.
